Outlander Day Trip - Edinburgh

Are you a fan of Diana Galbadon's Outlander Book series fan and of subsequent TV series? Join us on this day trip from Edinburgh to some of the film locations which are top attractions in their own right too. Will you be Claire and find your own Jamie as we enjoy this tour?

Duration: 7 1/2 hours with plenty of stops and a snooze on the return journey.

  • 8.45 Meet at Dalmeny Train Station. We aim to leave at 9am sharp
  • We will then make our way to Culross and plan to stay there for 30 minutes. (The scene of the black kirk and the gardens of Castle Leoch)
  • Afterwards we make our way for Falkland, the scene of Inverness, We stay here for 1 hour and we will try and have lunch at the Covenanters Hotel where Claire and Frank stayed. This is not always possible due to functions and their kitchen waiting times.
  • We then make way for Doune Castle, the MacKenzie Castle. We stay here for 1 hour.
  • It is now time for the piece de resistance as we visit Midhope Castle, otherwise known as Lallybroch. It is a private estate (and a ruin) and we will stay here for approximately 15 minutes.
  • As per the books and the tv series, we then make way for Blackness Castle where we will stay for around 1 hour. It is a real delightful castle.
  • We then make our way back for Glasgow or Edinburgh where we say our goodbye's and haste ye back to Scotland soon!



  • Doune Castle, the site of Castle Leoch.

  • Culross, the site of Cranesmuir and the Black Kirk
  • Blackness Castle, the site of Fort William, Black Jacks Headquaters and Jamie's unfortunate incarceration.
  • Picnic Lunch which we provide, alternatively you can have lunch enroute but due to entrance timings this may not be possible. We provide sandwiches, Fresh Scottish produce, bottled water, cold drinks, snacks and a complimentary dram of Scotch Whisky.
